Quick comparison
Key figure is the lender's published rate, or its largest line where it does not publish one. CLTV is how much of your home's value you can borrow against, counting your mortgage.

How we chose these lenders
We read each lender's own HELOC pages on October 30, 2026 and compared what they publish. We do not give star ratings or scores.
- Published terms
- Line amounts, maximum combined loan-to-value (CLTV), minimum credit score, fees, and the draw and repayment periods.
- Rates
- The rate a lender publishes, with its date and conditions. We never estimate a rate a lender does not publish; for those, we show the largest line instead.
- Source rule
- A lender is included only if its key facts came from its own website. Lenders whose sites we could not read are left out until we can check them.
- Partners
- loanDepot and AmeriSave are LenderMatch partners. They are labeled and listed first. Their facts come from their own websites, the same as every other lender.
- Best for
- Each “Best for” and “Good fit if” line restates a published fact, such as a line size or a funding time. It is not a recommendation for your situation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best HELOC lender for 2027?
No single lender is best for everyone. It depends on how much you need, your credit, your state and whether you want a fixed rate. On their own sites, Bank of America and Truist publish lines up to $1,000,000, Navy Federal and Connexus publish 20-year and 15-year draw periods, and AmeriSave and Spring EQ publish a 90% CLTV limit. Comparing offers on your own numbers shows the rate you would actually get.
Which HELOC lenders offer a fixed rate?
loanDepot, Figure and Spring EQ offer fixed-rate HELOCs. Bank of America, PNC, U.S. Bank and Truist let you lock some or all of a variable balance at a fixed rate. AmeriSave's pages are unclear on this, Connexus's HELOC is variable only, and Navy Federal does not publish a fixed option for its HELOC.
What credit score do I need for a HELOC?
Published minimums on this page run from 600 (AmeriSave, which calls it a typical minimum) to 660 (Bank of America and U.S. Bank). Figure and Spring EQ list 640, and Figure asks for 680 on rental properties and duplexes. Several lenders do not publish a minimum. The lowest advertised rates at U.S. Bank and Navy Federal assume scores of 730 or higher and 750.
How much can I borrow with a HELOC?
It depends on your home's value, what you owe and the lender's limit. AmeriSave, Spring EQ and Connexus publish a 90% maximum combined loan-to-value, PNC generally 79.90% to 89.90%, and Navy Federal says you can borrow up to 95% of your equity. Published line maximums run from $400,000 to $1,000,000.
Which HELOC lenders have no closing costs?
Bank of America pays closing costs on lines up to $1 million, U.S. Bank says the customer pays no closing costs, and Navy Federal pays third-party closing costs. Watch for early closure fees: $450 within 36 months at Bank of America, and 1% of the line, up to $500, within 30 months at U.S. Bank.
